Mercure Hotel | Newport

The refurbished 15 storey building transformed into an 150-bed 4-star hotel.  Owen Associates Interiors worked with Troika Construction, collaborating with the Mercure Group. The client's brief was to incorporate local landmarks within the design fabric. We focused on the impressive Newport Transporter Bridge. The use of finishes, lighting and artwork were carefully selected to give the spaces an industrial feel but still making sure we hit the luxury point the hotel demanded. 

We were involved in all aspects of the hotel from the main entrance, to the external terrace, restaurant and bar, the circulation and guest bedrooms. 

We were really pleased to be working with local craftsman designing the bedroom headboards and fitted furniture.  Also using local artists, integrating artwork by Welsh Graphic artist Caroline Rees and Christopher Langley. 

This landmark building was opened to the public on Friday 13th May 2022 and we hope will be transformed into one of the landmark destinations in Newport City Centre.
